Water is a circulator

Water does not consume itself, but is constantly changing. Due to the cycle of water in nature, no water is lost - but also none is added.

Water on the way up

The water cycle begins with the evaporation driven by the sun. As a result of warming, water vapour rises from the land and seas into the air.

Formation of clouds and precipitation

As it rises, the water vapor cools, condenses and forms fine droplets. Clouds are formed which the wind can transport over long distances.

Precipitation

Precipitation occurs when the clouds are saturated with condensed water. Then the water falls to the earth in the form of rain, snow or hail.

The end is the beginning

The water returns to the sea via rivers and streams. Some water also seeps into the soil and reaches the groundwater.
